That is unfortunate and hopefully they can get the staffing they need. We were told that they just can't hire people. The Spa is clean, but very disappointing to see that a once shining star at the resort has been allowed to slowly dim. Years ago, The Spa had nail techs, hair stylists, several massage therapists, well stocked locker rooms and it was busy. The Spa has only two people on staff, a desk person and a massage therapist. The restaurant choices are few, with short hours, either lacking staff or competence, and have limited menus. Although the pool itself and seating areas look to be clean, the mulch surrounding pool area is littered with weeds, cigarette butts, and trash. The building appears to be in relatively good shape, but the grounds are a mess. When we lived in NE Ohio, it was a nice overnight or weekend getaway for my wife and I. This place has changed ownerships at least twice since the last time we visited about 10 years ago. They did have a southern rock band in the hall space (Nov 4) and they were absolutely wonderful! We also went to East Liverpool and ate at the vault and really enjoyed that and all the architecture near it on the buildings. We never once saw a machine being wiped down. If you are truly a gambler, this is probably not the place for you. All of the group that we talked with, one couple won for a couple hundred dollars, but that was it. We ate dinner at the sports bar and breakfast at the Gatsby's and both were good. Sink would not drain properly, but we didn't bring it up. We got a bargin rate of of $170 per night (stayed 2 nights) and while I didn't feel it was worth that price for just the room, I felt like having the open space and chairs outside made it better. It did need some major weeding and upkeep though. All of our rooms opened to the patio area (outdoor pool) and it was wonderful to just sit outside there all together. We stayed in the old building by the outdoor swimming pool on the ground floor. After crossing the sketchy bridge, we were happy to meet up with our 30 closest friends for a weekend. We had a good time for a weekend getaway and had never been there.
